Lance C. Tyson


Lance C. Tyson, a partner in the Chicago office, was formerly a partner at Freeborn and Peters LLP, the managing member of Tyson Strong Hill, LLC and an associate at Kutak Rock LLP prior to founding the Firm. He devotes his time to the area of public finance law, real estate and government
affairs. Mr. Tyson has provided legal services in several note and bond issues, including many innovative and complex financings for the
 
Chicago Housing Authority, the City of Chicago, the Illinois Finance Authority, Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority, the Board of Education of the City of Chicago and the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Milwaukee. Mr. Tyson also acts as counsel to banks, trustees and investment banking firms in connection with public offerings of municipal debt. In addition to public finance, Mr. Tyson has been involved in the affordable housing field representing developers, lenders and housing authorities including negotiating and drafting FHA insured mortgages, Section 8 and HOPE VI documents. Mr. Tyson is committed to public service. Such commitment is demonstrated by serving as Legislative Counsel to the Mayor of the City of Chicago where he represented the City’s interest before the Illinois General Assembly, the Governor's Office and state agencies by drafting and passing legislation. Such efforts included successful passage of the Soldier Field Expansion Bond Authorization and the Illinois Affordable Housing Donation Tax Credit. In addition to his service to the City of Chicago, Mr. Tyson served as Chief of Staff to the President of Cook County where he assisted the President in the management of the 19th largest government in the United States by balancing two $3,600,000,000 budgets. He is the author of the article "Unitary Apportioning, the Key to Global Tax Harmony," published in 22 The International Tax Journal, 35. Mr. Tyson is admitted to practice law in Illinois and the U.S. District Court of Illinois, Northern District. He graduated from Lake Forest College with a Bachelor of Arts degree and earned a law degree from the University of Iowa College of Law. He is a member of the National Association of Bond.

Crystal M. Connor

Crystal Connor, a partner in the Miami office. Ms. Connor successfully and effectively advocates for companies looking for opportunities within government. Since entering private practice, she has been assisting clients with public procurement procedures, permitting, zoning and land use changes and budget and appropriations matters in local governments.
She also has experience handling matters relating to Federal Section 108 Housing loans, tax credits, and working with state and local governmental
 
agencies on community relations matters relating to transportation needs. Her experience also includes assisting businesses navigate the rules regulating empowerment and enterprise zone funding and incentives. Mrs. Connor-Lane has been a very active and visible player in Miami Dade County government. She worked as a Commission Aide for 41/2 years. Specifically, she served as Chief of Staff to former Miami Dade County Commissioner Jimmy Morales and worked as the Commissioner's Chief Policy and Legislative Aide. Prior to working at the County she served as general counsel for the Black Economic Development Corporation. She has also served as Interim City Manager for the Village of El Portal in Miami Dade County. While at El Portal, she was responsible for a budget of approximately 2.3 million dollars and worked closely with FEMA and other agencies regarding hurricane preparedness. She also worked on annexation issues including the initial application through the negotiation process with Miami Dade County. She is experienced with matters relating to code enforcement issues, drafting and executing ordinances and other governmental policies. Mrs. Connor-Lane is an appointed member of the Citizens Transportation Committee (CTAC) and the Florida East Coast Coalition Committee, and was a Senior member of the Florida Finance Committee for Obama for America. Mrs. Connor-Lane is published in Success Magazine Policy and Politics, Issue 12, Vol. 3 “Knowledge is Power”, graduated from Temple University with a B.A. and received her law degree from William Mitchell College of Law. She is licensed in Florida and Minnesota.

Elliott Califf

Elliott Califf is an Associate with the Firm whose practice includes public finance law, real estate, energy law, business organization and taxation. Mr. Califf has experience in a range of real estate transactions and litigation, including purchase and sales, leasing, zoning issues, loan restructuring and mortgage foreclosure litigation. He provides counseling in affordable housing finance and development, working with clients to access various federal and state tax credits, grants, and financing vehicles.
 

Mr. Califf also has experience in renewable energy transactions including Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and Host Community Benefit Agreements. Furthermore, he assists the Firm’s partners as counsel to units of local, state and tribal governments, 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations, banks, trustees and investment banking firms.

Prior to pursuing a legal career, Mr. Califf worked as an associate for a commercial real estate asset management firm managing a $1.2 billion dollar real estate private equity fund on behalf of an international investment bank. Additionally, he was a financial analyst for the largest Low Income Housing Tax Credit real estate developer in Florida.

Mr. Califf received his J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he was a member of the Dean's Honor List and President of the Real Estate Student Law Association. He received a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, majoring in Real Estate and Urban Land Economics.


Robbie Anderson

Much of Robbie Anderson’s paralegal experience came from his previous employment with the Illinois Finance Authority as the Assistant to the General Counsel where he assisted in facilitating numerous public financing and real estate projects. Soon after completing the Paralegal course with Robert Morris University, Mr. Anderson joined The Tyson Law Group as legal support staff to assist the firm when representing clients.
 

Mr. Anderson’s diverse work history as a former small business owner and a mechanical design and manufacturing engineer in the plastics industry showed a range of experience beneficial in providing an attention to detail. In addition to the education provided by Robert Morris University, Mr. Anderson also holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Industrial Design and Master of Arts in Design, Strategy and Innovation from Brunel University in London.
